Our Clients On our visits
to nursing homes we encourage socialization and conversation, stimulate
intellect and memory, provide entertainment and fulfill tactile needs.
Reminiscing about a long ago pet, conversing with a fellow animal-lover or
getting some serious "fuzz therapy" helps to brighten a day. In a rehabilitation program, therapists utilize the pets in activities designed to attain specific goals, such as: increase range of motion, strengthen hand-eye coordination, build muscle tone and enhance mobility. For hospitalized children, the animals help alleviate anxiety. They can offer diversion, entertainment or reassurance. And they certainly can bring a smile or giggle to an unhappy face. Note: Our next new volunteer workshop
will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013, with Temperament Testing the
following Saturday, April 13, 2013.
